Tony C Cutajar was born in G?ira, Malta, on 28th July 1936. He studied at Stella Maris College, at the Malta University, at Hopwood Hall Training College in Manchester and at London University. He started teaching in England where he remained for 10 years altogether. He followed courses on Shakespeare at Stratford-on-Avon and in French at the Sorbonne in Paris. His teaching subjects were English and French which he continued teaching in Malta from 1969 till 1997 up to advanced level.

In 1971 he was chosen to work as writer, producer and presenter of educational programmes on radio and TV as a teacher-on-loan with the Broadcasting Athority. The following year he obtained a British Council scholarship in Educational TV in London. He worked with the School Broadcasting Unit until 1975, was among the first newscasters and presenters on Radio Malta and had a number of TV and radio programmes like Favoriti, Kotba ? odda, A Date with…, English is Fun, Bejn il-Folji, Ner?g?u Niltaqg?u, etc. Other programmes were on Net TV, RTK, Radio 101, Voice of the Mediterranean, and DJ Radio. Well over a 100 radioplays were broadcast on the various radio stations, among them 7 serials. Tony worked also in films and on the stage and took part in the Schools Drama Festivals at the Manoel Theatre. Some of his plays won first place or were declared the most original play.

In 1976 he was elected President of the San ? wann Civic Council and in 1994 as Councillor of this locality for nine whole years, where he also served as Mayor and as Vice Mayor. He has been President of the Friends of Australia Association since its foundation in 1977 and on two occasions was presented with the Fairfield Council Shield of Australia. He also served as President of the Klabb Qari Nisrani and of San ? wann Parish Council, as well as President of the San ? wann Primary School Council. He was appointed as Knight and later Chancellor of the Order of St Lazarus of Jerusalem.

Tony is married to Antoinette née Bason and they have two children. Owen who works in UK as a Computer Consultant is married to Camille nèe Busuttil and they have a son named Arthur. Fiona is married to Roderick Grech and they have a daughter named Martina.
