IL-LEWN TAL-GILDA – Publikazzjoni Indipendenza
Five young men and women meet regularly as old friends. They all have different characters, starting with one who is quiet and serious known as “qassisu” and ending with the one known as “sexy” who can be very rough and funny but is a racist. They become friends with some refugees whose experiences are quite unbelievable. This is not a book for children because the subjects covered are mature and the way these friends speak and behave are not always exemplary. However the book covers a very topical and controversial subject.

TFAL U ZGHAZAGH FL-OLOKAWST
This book is written for young and not so young adults but definitely not for children and those who are too sensitive in the face of cruelty and torture. It is a macabre account of a human tragedy during the worst epoch in the recent history of man. This is the first time that such an account is being written in Maltese lest we forget what millions of innocent people went through during the last war. This book should serve as a real eye-opener so that we must never allow such things ever to happen again.
IL-KROCJATA TAT-TFAL
Here we have a myserious historical event and an extraordinary story never before written in Maltese. It is about a large number of youngsters who travel thousands of miles to take the Holy Land from the hands of the Moslems. After the great failure of the first four crusades, the shepherd boy Stephen leaves France with 30,000 people while Nicholas leads another 20,000 from Germany. On the way they have very bad experiences and finish badly, including those who succeed in reaching Palestine where they were sold as slaves.
It is a story of great courage where we also get to know about life in the Middle Ages, the vocation of the Knights Hospitallers and the aims and results of the first crusades in favour of the Christians in Palestine. There is also a link with the famous legend of the Pied Piper of Hamelin and other mysterious events.
IT-TEZOR TA’ BIEB IS-SULTAN
This adventure story is written with and for students of the last years of the Primary classes. Class lessons about the bastions, towers and fortifications in the history of Malta lead to an exciting experience in connection with the Hompesch Gate in Zabbar. The legend says that the statue of Grand Master Nikol Cottoner atop this famous gate is looking in the direction of a buried treasure. This sets the children in class to use their imagination and initiative to start searching for this treasure. After a lot of adventure one of the girls finds it accidentally and soon becomes very popular in the news.
AHWA BLA MA JAFU
Teenagers and grown ups who love Maltese history and romantic stories will definitely enjoy this original story based on a historical background. Two children are brought to Malta separately as slaves in the time of the Knights of St John and as they grow up they have very bad experiences. But they meet some kind-hearted people who change their lives. They happen to meet and soon become lovers. The young man makes a perilous journey to Tripoli to try to find his mother but comes back with bad news. The two lovers receive another bad news when they get to know that they can never marry.
IL-KAVALLIER TAC-CINJU
Here we have three romantic stories which do not end with the usual “… and they lived happily ever after.” They sound more like mysterious and magical stories where the lovers are punished for some unforgiveable mistakes. The first story is a medieval German legend that Richard Wagner wrote as a lyrical opera called Lohengrin. Then follows a fictitious story built on a Chinese legend about Chihsi – which resembles the modern romantic St Valentine’s Day. Finally there is a semi-historical legend considered as a miracle by the Hungarians as it concerns their saintly queen Elizabeth.
