Our UK Mortgage

We recently remortgaged our house in the UK and moved it to a Buy-To-Let mortgage to facilitate renting it out. There were a variety of Remortgage Deals available on the market, so it was quite a hassle to evaluate which one to go for. Luckily there are a number of financial advisers who are quite ready to help with your decision, mostly because of the commission they get for their work, and partly because they try to sell you other services once they have made a client out of you. My advice is always to shop around, see if you can find the best deal and then go for it.

The biggest problem with mortgages is that the market can be quite volatile. Over the last few years, the Bank of England base rate has been increasing, in a bid to slow down inflation; this has the effect of making borrowing more expensive and increasing the cost of servicing your mortgage. The recent news about problems in the loan markets, especially the most recent run on Northern Rock adds uncertainty to the market, however may prove to be instrumental in reducing the base rate. We’ll see. Unfortunately what you need in this case is really a crystal ball. I wonder where I can get one .. anyone know ?

Nothing better than debt elimination

Do you struggle to make ends meet at the end of the month? Well, the secret is to try and pay off debt and pay it off quickly. If this is what you’re after then you can find tons of advice online.

One such place is John Commuta’s site. I had never heard of him before, but he claims to be able to transform debt into wealth, at the low, low price of $40. I suppose you could spend your money on worse things, but I’m sure there’s lots of common sense tactics as to how to minimise your spending and put money away towards your future. I just love the example he uses. It’s something on the lines of “Imagine you’re $2000 in debt .. well if you paid off an extra $50 a month on your bill, you could save thousands of pounds in interest you’re not paying”

Earn yourself $1000

Woke up this morning to find that PayPerPost had just launched a promotion whereby they will be giving away a $1000 opportunity to one lucky blogger ever Tuesday during April. Now, what would be better than that news, would be actually winning the $1000.

These 1k Tuesdays are turning out to pretty heated as a large number of people all try to keep an eye on PayPerPost and then try to grab the opportunity to earn $1000 all at the same time. This caused huge load issues on the first Tuesday, but thanks to some hard work from the development team the second Tuesday was much smoother.
