They operate an interesting model whereby you get 100% of the cashback the retailers provides. The only thing you need to know is that they retain the first £5 you make as a fee for their services, but after that, all the cashback is yours. It’s a good way of working, with everything above board. Not only that, but any extra commissions they get which cannot be allocated to a customer are put in a pot which is then drawn as a lottery among all the members.

Seriously .. do you still have the receipt of the toothbrush you bought two years ago? Or your socks? I had good experiences with Direct Line Insurance before but this was just annoying. They got back to me with the fact that I could send them photos or credit card statements if I didn’t have the receipts. Again .. don’t have a photo of my toothbrush or of myself in my underwear. I managed to find SOME photos to send and some credit card statements, but we’ll see how that goes.

Thing is, I’ve already replaced all the items, bought myself a new luggage (although it’s no Delsey), new underwear and a new toothbrush .. but the whole point of travel insurance was to be covered in the case of this eventuality and I’m just really annoyed at all the hoops I’m having to jump through!

Has anyone out there used these? What sort of experience did you have?

Actually, let me rephrase that. Go Compare don’t actually sell insurance. What they do is provide a search and comparison facility that trawls the market and compares offerings from different insurance companies. They have a 5 star ranking system that lets you see at first glance which insurance deal is the best one for you. And it’s not just a matter of comparing prices. Different insurances have different features bundles on: reduced excess, coutesy cars etc; so comparing like with like is a bit more tricky.

Anyway, I gave the site a quick whirl and it’s relatively easy to use. There’s lots of information they require up front, in order to get the different insurance quotes, but hey, if it can save you money in the long run, it’s worth it, isn’t it. Will keep it in mind for the next time I’m shopping for insurance.

Buying a car can be a pretty large drain on your resources, so it’s a good thing that you an find Unsecured Lines of Credit available on the market. It’s pretty easy to borrow money to do anything you want nowadays, from open and operate a business, all the way to buying a car. I’m not quite sure whether we will be borrowing money for the car, it does depend on how much we’re spending and if we can get a trade-in for our BMW, but it’s nice to know the options are available.

I have a whole collection of cards, which come from the days when I used to switch from one card to another to make use of their free credit on balance transfers. I’m glad I’m no longer in that loop because it can be quite risky, but it’s always good to compare credit cards and make use of their favourable rates and conditions.
