Watching an interesting film at the moment called “500 Days of Summer“. The bit I’m really enjoying about it is the instrument that’s being used to tell the story. The narrative jumps backwards and forward in time showing snippets from the story, but letting the viewer piece it all together. I quite like this style of movie. Another movie like this I watch some time ago was a bit more blatant with the technique. It was afilm called Memento that actually used the mechanism as part of the story line, featuring a character that couldn’t form any new memories and had to tattoo things to his body to follow the story of his life. Good thing he didn’t use barcodes, otherwise he would need to stock up on barcode scanners. Anyway, back to the movie …
