Going Green

Compact fluorescent light bulb

I’ve been slowly replacing the light bulbs in the house with energy efficient ones. We now have LED ones in the kitchen and compact florescent ones in various places around the house. The technology seems to be improving every year, but it’s still not up to scratch with traditional incandescent light bulbs. The LED ones don’t have adequate light output and the compact florescent take some time to actually warm up. Still, they’re getting to the point where they are usable, so it’s great to see them in a variety of sizes and output capabilities.

Still, I’m quite proud that we’ve managed to reduce our power consumption bya little bit. I’m sure it’s made a dent on our bills and will go some way towards helping the environment.

One day I’ll succeed in replacing them all .. one day..
