A bit of this and a bit of that

I’ve packed my Christmas present away in a box so that I can open it up on Christmas day, but I must admit that I have been playing with it a fair bit. It works well, pretty impressive, but you need to remember to keep charging it. I had a Swatch once that ran for two years before needing a battery change, this watch can go for around 3 days before needing a charge. (That’s almost as long as it takes to see a St. Petersburg dentist, but that’s another story)

It is completely different technology of course. My MP4 watch has a full colour LCD screen that draws power continuously, while an analogue watch just needs a trickle of power to keep itself wound up. Analogue watches also had hundreds of years of development to make them more and more efficient, while I hadn’t seen any of these watches before 6 weeks ago! It is, I’m certain though, the shape of things to come and I’m looking forward to seeing how watches will change over the next few months!
