I’ve been sick for a couple of days, and the quality of the reality shows on TV has just been abysmal! Here’s one I would watch however. BP are organising an event called The Solar Decathlon. It consists of 20 teams competing to to build a house that can be run completely by energy from the sun. The focus has to be on efficiency, both in gathering the sun’s energy, as well as the use of energy in the house.
Here’s a video so you can learn more about how solar works:
There’s 2 days left for the event to start and you can catch up and keep an eye on the proceedings down at their blog. BP is their main sponsor and is making quite a lot of noise about the event. And rightly so too. With the current drain on the world’s natural resources, people are turning to renewable sources for their day to day consumption and the sun has enough energy to keep things going for millions of years. It’s up to our systems and initiatives to tap into this energy source and make sure we can use it to power our homes and offices. Check out the BP Solar Decathlon
