Do you like dogs? We have 3 cats at home, but Arthur seems to prefer dogs for some reason. Whenever we go out for a walk, he loves keeping a look out for dogs and always wants to go and play with them. Which begs the question, should we get a dog?

One breed which is apparently quite family friendly is the Boston Terrier. I read some information on the Boston Terrier Guide on Cynthia’s blog (you can tell she loves dogs) and they seem like an excellent dog to have at home. I’m not much of a dog person but I hear a terrier is one of the better breeds to have, particularly because they become part of the family really quickly and are a pretty safe dog to have at home. It’s highly intelligent and loves to play, so the whole family would probably enjoy having him around.

The only problem I find with dogs is the amount of maintenance they require. Our cats are pretty self-sufficient and I can’t see myself waking up early in the morning to take a dog for a walk. Still, as Arthur grows older, he may decide that he wants a dog as is ready to take his share of walking duties. So, watch this space ;)

    2. Well that picture is really cute! Dogs are definitely more work than cats, but I enjoy both. Another very bright, loving family dog is the Puggle (half pug, half beagle). We’re adopting a puppy this Sunday. You can see a picture of him over at http://sewingmom.com

    4. I like cats but I’ve always been partial to dogs. It’s true though they probably do require more care than cats and you’re used to your cats. I guess you’ll have to see what Arthur wants in the future. I think all kids ask for a pet that’s not in the home already so be prepared!
