Seasons by Gladys Cannell

July 10th, 2008

Take a little kindness
Sow it in the spring
Watch it grow in goodness
Till it covers everything

Take a little thoughtfulness
Grow it in the summer
Put it next to kindliness
Watch them grow much firmer

Take a lot of caring
Show it in the fall
Watch the seeds of sharing
Blossoming over all

Take some of these to everyone
In the winter of their years
Especially when they are all alone
With their worries and their fears.

This poem was written by Gladys Cannell. She feels that this poem sums up the care and support she receives at the Scholl Centre in IOM.

I think it is a beautiful poem about life. I saw it in the magazine Hospice News Spring 2008 and wanted to pass on the beauty of the poem. I hope you enjoy it too.

Sunflowers

Arthur\'s Sunflower

I like sunflowers and their sunny disposition! I miss having one this year. I should have thought of it earlier. Still the neighbour has one…. I can take a photo of theirs when it flowers. Meanwhile… this is my own home grown sunflower from last year. Ok Ok, Arthur’s home grown sunflower from last year!

Fireworks

June 24th, 2008

I never quite realised how beautiful fireworks can be. Since taking up photography I find fireworks to be really intriguing. Shame about how windy it was on the night. Wish there was another firework night coming up.

A Very Special Day

June 15th, 2008

Today was a doubly special day. It was Father’s Day and My Birthday. We celebrated by going to Chessington for the day. It is nice to celebrate as a family. Uncle Randolph and Grandmama joined us to celebrate.

We then went to Chinese at Shangai in Staines. Keri popped by to say Happy Birthday. It was really special. We even had a present for Arthur!

Legoland

June 14th, 2008

We started our holiday by going to Legoland. We started off our Tussaud Annual Pass Tickets. It was fantastic. Uncle Randolph and Grandmama joined us for the day. Arthur really seemed to have a wonderful time. It was quite funny he had fallen asleep when we arrived and he did not want to wake up!! But then he had a wonderful time.

Friday 13th

June 13th, 2008

Friday 13th is unlucky for some but generally not for me.

Today we travelled from the Isle of Man to Luton and unusually nothing much went wrong!! It was lovely to all travel together on holiday. I love true family holidays and this one is particularly special.

10 Years ago today!

May 24th, 2008

Wow, Owen and I got engaged 10 years ago today. Isn’t that romantic. I remember playing a game, “where do you think you will be in 10 years time…”. I would have hoped to be here but I honestly cannot say that I could have envisioned life today the way it is.

Truthfully, I am living a better life than I could have ever hoped for. Thank you Owen for so many wonderful years together. May we have 10 times more!!

May 10th, 2008

I cannot believe it but it has been 17 years to the day since I left school. Doesn’t time fly. Would I go back to school? Believe it or not…. it is still a big NO!!

In all honestly I love my life now. Arthur is my life and he exceeds all expectations. :)

Slim Fast & Miracle Grow

May 5th, 2008
One evening, a husband, thinking he was being funny, said to his wife:
“Perhaps we should start washing your clothes in Slim Fast. Maybe it would take a few inches off your butt”.
His wife was not amused, and decided that she simply could not let such comment go unrewarded. The next morning the husband took a pair of underwear out of his drawer.
“What the Heck is this??” he said to himself, as a little ‘dust’ cloud appeared when he shook them out.
“April,” he hollered into the bathroon. “Why did you put talcum powder in my underwear??”.
She replied………”It is not talcum powder….It’s Miracle Grow“.
