Breastfeeding

August 20th, 2008

I came across a blog post based on a post from Miss604 about Breastfeeding problems & controversy at H&M in Canada. It struck me how sad our society is. We have decided to think that breastfeeding is too crude… yet in my opinion, breastfeeding is the most beautiful natural experience there is. So I thought I would share my experiences with the world. This is a short video I took many moons ago because I did not want to even slightly diminish the beauty of breastfeeding. Enjoy.

Certificate

July 18th, 2008

Arthur received his duckling 2 certificate but I was expected to pay for it. Feels like it undermines the achievement. It is not like they could not have added to cost of the paper to the lessons. It really destroyed the moment.

We had a family dental appointment and Arthur was so cute. He knew he was going to the Dentist and said that the Dentist was going to look into his mouth and pull out his teeth! He was so good too.

Travelling Again

January 11th, 2008

Arthur and I had to travel back to IOM. After we picked up the grandparents from Heathrow, we headed off to Gatwick. I have truely begun to hate Gatwick airport. They are the most useless airport around. The reason they are still 1 hand baggage allowance is because they are not coping. Now if they were not so silly that they still insist on removing peoples shoes, belts, jackets, laptops from laptop bags, put liquid items into transparent bags? etc etc. They even make you remove an infants shoes! Honestly how much could you hide in a toddlers pair of shoes?

If I had a choice, I simply would use another airport but living in IOM, it complicates matters. C’est la vie!

Building

November 6th, 2007

We have the pool area and adjoining rooms in Viola avenue and they need some structural work. We have been thinking or simply rebuilding the rooms as it means we have our minds at rest. So we started off by getting quotes. That alone was hard enough. You would be surprised how many people have answering machines and how many do not call back. What is the point.

So we started getting quotes. Then we thought for our protection, so the cost does not suddenly go up when they think they are milking a cash cow, we told them that we were going to have to refinance with mortgage loans. We thought that as long as they thought they were dealing with loans then they won’t add on “unexpected” costs. So we needed a change in quote and suddenly, the quote was £10k more than anticipated. Interesting!

Why is it that I get more spam comments than real comments?

I miss real comments and hate Spam ones!

What can you do?

Batteries

July 28th, 2007

We go through batteries like there is no tomorrow. We need batteries for 80% of Arthur’s toys. We need batteries for Owen’s gadget and batteries for my occassional erm item too!

The thing is they are so expensive. I have tried rechargable but unless the rechargable batteries come direct with the product, the rechargables are not as good as a Duracell Plus battery.

Wish I knew where to buy them cheaply!

Roderick’s Accident

July 19th, 2007

Roderick had an accident last night. Apparently he walked straight into a glass door. This shattered and cut him. He needed a stitch in his arm and several in his knee. He is pretty cut up.

What really got to me was that he was taken to hospital by ambulance. He was stitched up and discharged at 4 am and asked to? be back? by? 7am as he was scheduled to be operated on at? 7.20am. Needless to say, he was immediately transfered by my parents to a private hospital. My mum called up to cancel the operation as he was transfered. The hospital staff were really irritated and said, “first you screw up taking a bed for us” or rather in maltese “l-ewwel tfoftulna sodda!”. Needless to say my mum was infuriated especially considered they chucked him out when he was due for an operation in a couple of hours!

Thank god for private hospitals!

Fun Day

June 24th, 2007

Yesterday, we went out for a fun day. It was a really nice day too. We had a picnic blanket and a ball. We met up with friends and had junk food for lunch. We were walking around the amusements and we left the ball and picnic blanket in our spot. Needless to say (or I probably would not be grumbling about it) when we got back neither the ball nor the blanket were there. Someone actually pinched them on a fun day. The ball was nothing special. It cost just a pound and the blanket was so used, it was tearing from the handle. But that is not the point. Someone thought it was acceptable to pick them up and take them. They did not consider that the ball belonged to a little boy and that the blanket was being used. Needless to say, it really ruined our fun? day!

Brilliant Baby

June 3rd, 2007

Brilliant Baby just is not brilliant at all. They cannot make up their mind whether they are “British” or “American”. Just because it is narrated by someone British does not make it “British”. They use American Children, speak of holidays such as the 4th July (NOT A UK HOLIDAY - or rest of the world other than the states come to think of it!), and write “Fall” but say “Autumn”. Perfect to confuse children.

It could have been a good thing except is culturally biased (American Culture) yet aimed for a completely different culture (British). Teaching about different cultures is a good thing, but Brilliant Baby just does not do that at all.

Brilliant? No not at all!

Hoax Email

May 25th, 2007

“Hi, everyone:

The Ericsson Company is distributing free computer lap-tops in an attempt to match Nokia that has already done so. Ericsson hopes to increase its popularity this way. For this reason, they are giving away the new WAP laptops. All you need to qualify is to send this mail to 8 people you know.

Within 2 Weeks, you will receive Ericsson T18. But if you can send this to 20 people or more, you will receive Ericsson R320

Make sure to send a copy to: anna.swelung@ericcson.com”

If you have received this email, PLEASE do NOT forward it. It is a hoax email. It is a chain email that does not do anything other than cause email congestion and irritate people. I cannot bear to receive another one of these emails. I will ban anyone who sends me this email again, so that I never receive trash from that person again.

I would like to prove my point to you:-

  • If you have any common sense, you would verify the email address and the offer before forwarding.
  • This email has been circulating since the beginning of the millennium - can you imagine how many times I have received this email or a similar version to it!
  • People do not give away things for nothing - why would they give you a laptop?
  • More importantly why would they give you a laptop when they don’t make laptops but phones?
  • The Ericsson’s mentioned are actually phones and not laptops!
  • They are discontinued models, so why would they have a stock of them at all?
  • Even if it were true… are you so desperate for a discontinued phone?
  • The email address is not valid!
  • Nor is the variation of anna.swelund@ericsson.com valid!
  • I am irritated that I have received yet another chain email!
  • Nobody has ever received a phone or a laptop. I always ask the people who send me the chain if they received anything. I would only forward if the actually did. (In other words I never forward it!)

If you feel you really need to forward something - return the email, perhaps in the same way and with a link to this post. It may help stop both you and me from receiving so much junk email. Here’s to hoping!
