Montessori

September 4th, 2008

We took Arthur to check out the Montessori school. It seems like one of the best so far. They offered a range of eductational accessories to really expand children’s minds. They covered things like Geography, Science and Geometry. Let me give a little more explanation.

For example children were able to match flags to countries, they knew continents too. The children were spacially aware of size. They were also able to differenciate between different types of polygons. They were able to understand differences between rivers, straits and lakes. Rather than being taught simple parts of the body such as Head, Shoulder, Knees & Toes, they covered things like femur, lungs, heart etc.

All the children were well behaved and seemed very independant.

I suspect Arthur can gain quite a bit from this school. It was particularly nice to see that it was not just a nursery or baby sitting service but offers real education. If it will be enough for Arthur, I don’t know but at least it is something.

Owen liked the school too!

So tired!!

August 31st, 2008

Arthur was pretty much up all night!! Obviously I was with him. I did feel sorry for him as he had a mild temperature despite taking Calpol but this morning I am all exhausted! And Arthur was all up and lively by 7.30 am.

I am sooooo tired!!

At least Owen is up now and is taking care of Arthur. It seems wrong to go nap at 11am yet I feel shattered!

On our travels

August 29th, 2008

I guess I should learn that travelling will no longer ever go smoothly for me again!!

Arthur & I missed our train by a couple of minutes. Fine. Waited an hour. Went to board the next train but they refused us because a scan of our family rail card was not sufficient. It did not matter that royal mail have it in their hands and no I am not entitled to a replacement card and no they cannot verify it. I had to buy another family rail card or a new ticket. They made me miss the train. To add insult to injury I was NEVER requested to see the new damn card!! So now I own 2 cards for the same service. Not happy.

Glad my mum was with me until Euston as it made it alot easier than it would have otherwise been.

But at least we caught the boat, and bar a lounge that felt like the Sahhara and the food we bought on board, it went well. And we are finally home!! :)

Squirrel

August 26th, 2008

We were in London with Arthur when I took this photo of a squirrel. Although I am not enamoured by squirrels, I think this turned out to be quite a nice photograph.

Breastfeeding

August 20th, 2008

I came across a blog post based on a post from Miss604 about Breastfeeding problems & controversy at H&M in Canada. It struck me how sad our society is. We have decided to think that breastfeeding is too crude… yet in my opinion, breastfeeding is the most beautiful natural experience there is. So I thought I would share my experiences with the world. This is a short video I took many moons ago because I did not want to even slightly diminish the beauty of breastfeeding. Enjoy.

Travelling Again

August 19th, 2008

We travelled again today, and as usual not without mishaps. We travelled by Steam Packet and Virgin train.

The boat arrived slightly late, we then got caught up in traffic and as a result missed the train. The next train was cancelled and so it took us at least 2 hours more to arrive home.

On the plus side, on the train we were in a first class cabin marked as Standard, and we got to eat Chinese in Liverpool. And Arthur enjoy it!

Arthur’s Photos for Sale!!

Photos of Arthur up for grabs!!

Certificate

July 18th, 2008

Arthur received his duckling 2 certificate but I was expected to pay for it. Feels like it undermines the achievement. It is not like they could not have added to cost of the paper to the lessons. It really destroyed the moment.

We had a family dental appointment and Arthur was so cute. He knew he was going to the Dentist and said that the Dentist was going to look into his mouth and pull out his teeth! He was so good too.

Sunflowers

June 30th, 2008

Arthur\'s Sunflower

I like sunflowers and their sunny disposition! I miss having one this year. I should have thought of it earlier. Still the neighbour has one…. I can take a photo of theirs when it flowers. Meanwhile… this is my own home grown sunflower from last year. Ok Ok, Arthur’s home grown sunflower from last year!

A Very Special Day

June 15th, 2008

Today was a doubly special day. It was Father’s Day and My Birthday. We celebrated by going to Chessington for the day. It is nice to celebrate as a family. Uncle Randolph and Grandmama joined us to celebrate.

We then went to Chinese at Shangai in Staines. Keri popped by to say Happy Birthday. It was really special. We even had a present for Arthur!
